How do I get a DuBois Public Library card?
Residents of the City of DuBois and Sandy Township are entitled to a free library card from our library. Please bring proof of current address when you come to obtain your card. Children may apply for a library card when they are five years of age.
If you have a library card from another Pennsylvania library, ask at your home library for the blue Access PA sticker to be placed on your card. You can bring your home library card to the DuBois Public Library and obtain a DuBois Public Library card free of charge. If you do not have a home PA library card or your residence is not served by a participating Access PA library, you may receive a DuBois Public Library card at a yearly cost of $35 for an individual or $40 for a family. How do I reserve a book?
Reservations for materials in our collection, except DVDs, can be made online, by phone or in person. Reservations are first come, first serve and time may be required to fill your reservation as there may be a waiting list especially for new and popular materials. Reservations made online for materials currently on the shelf may not be at the desk when you arrive, and could possibly be checked out before you arrive to pick up the item; instead, reservations for items on the shelf should be made by telephone.
How do I download an eBook or Audiobook from your collection?
Go to our Online Resources page and click Download audiobooks & eBooks. On the right hand side, under Getting Started, there is a click-able link for Digital Help. If you then click My Help, it will walk you through all the steps to downloading materials to your computer, eReader, or audio-player. If you have issues, questions, or need additional help, please call or stop in the DuBois Public Library.

How do I renew my books?
Items may be renewed one time and can be renewed in person, online, or by phone once as long as they are not on hold for another person. Feature Film DVDs may not be renewed. To renew online or access your account, click here. Use the Patron Login button at the top and enter your library card number to see items checked out, due dates, loan history, reserves, and fees. If items are overdue, they cannot be renewed online. Please call the library instead.
How do I make a donation or sponsor a memorial book?
One of the greatest ways to remember or honor a friend or loved one is by making a memorial donation to your public library. Memorial gifts to the DuBois Public Library support the purchase of new books and materials for our collection. A gift to the book collection is a lasting tribute to your loved one and will be shared and cared for by many community members. Your gift can be personalized to reflect the interests, occupation, hobbies, or causes of your loved one or a member organization. To download a brochure, click here Memorial Brochure.
How do I request historical information or obituaries for research?
Historical research services are offered to anyone looking for information that may be contained in our collection of historical materials, mainly birth, death, and marriage records. We have copies of The Courier-Express on microfilm dating back to 1892 and some local school yearbooks with the DuBois High School dating as far back as 1920. However, the library charges a fee of $3.00 for each request. This pays for the search and one print copy. Any pages beyond the first are $1.00 each. All of this will be sent to you via mail. If we are unable to find the information, the search itself is still a cost of $3.00 and we will contact you to let you know that we were unable to find the requested information. The requirements for these requests are the name(s) of person(s), specific date(s) of event(s) (birth-date, marriage date, death date) and payment in advance for each request. You may submit a check, cash or money order along with the requested information and your return address to the DuBois Public Library, 31 S. Brady Street, DuBois PA 15801. You may also send requests by email to Kelly at [email protected].
