Summer Reading is Coming! (No really it is!!!!)

5/6/2011

Well, we've made it through winter, and most of spring and now school is almost out, vacations are coming, camps are being planned, and so is Summer Reading!
Summer Reading starts June 1st!
On June 1st you can register for the programs, and start tracking your books for credit towards prizes.  Our Summer Reading Programs are available for all ages from birth through 105 years old!
Here are the program breakdowns.
Baby through 2 years old- Each child is read 15 books by parents, grandparents, siblings, baby sitters, or anyone else (including Miss Chris and Miss Becky at storytime) and the child will recieve a board book for their home collection.  These books can be read anywhere that reading goes on: at home, the library, the park, the grocery store, the bathroom (did you know that books are a great entertainment to get small ones to stay on the potty?), anywhere!
Ages 3 years old through 11 years old - Children read books to earn chances to win fun prizes throughout the summer.  Prizes are earned based on the number of minutes they spend reading.  Independent reading and read-aloud count for children of all ages.
Ages 12 years old through 18 years old - Teens can read books through out the summer to earn prizes.  Books can be on any reading level.
Adults - 19 years and older - Adults can read books to earn chances to win great prizes!  Books read-aloud to children count as entries for the program also!  One adult or YA book, one chapter book or three picture books count for each entry into the prize drawings.

AND all summer long we'll be presenting great programs for all ages!  Stay tuned for the complete line-up of events!

To register go to the Teen, Children or Adults page and click the link.  We look foward to seeing you at the Library this summer!
