There are two new sets of books in the Children’s Library at the DuBois Public Library. The first is a series of four books called All About America. The titles in the set include: Wagon Trains and Settlers; Gold Rush and Riches; Colonists and Independence; and Cowboys and the Wild West. These books have many historical facts that helped shape the United States of America, plus detailed reconstructions and original artwork from the period. Great Expeditions is a set of five books written by Valerie Bodden. The titles are: Through the American West; To the Moon; To the Ocean Deep; To the Top of Mount Everest; and To the South Pole. These books include many photos depicting the events, a Timeline, Endnotes, a Bibliography, and information for further reading. Holiday Gift Idea: When holiday shopping consider honoring a loved one with a donation in their name of a book or magazine subscription that will be placed in the Library. The online book fair runs from November 7 - 26 and our in-house book fair will follow these dates and times. DuBois Public Library News Column:
The Children’s Department at the DuBois Public Library has recently purchased a number of books from Barefoot Books. These books are beautifully illustrated and contain stories from around the world that children are sure to enjoy. Many of these books are in written form with an accompanying audio CD. Some of these books include: Lola’s Fandango by Anna Witte; Octopus Opposites by Stella Blackstone; Fireside Stories: Tales for a Winter’s Eve by Caitlin Matthews; The Barefoot Book of Fairies by Tanya Batt; Tales from Old Ireland by Malachy Doyle; The Barefoot Book of Knights by John Matthews; and Grandmother Stories by Burleigh Muten. Fall Story Hours: The second session of Fall Story Hours has begun and will continue until December 15th. There are three age groups: two-year olds meet from 10:00-10:30; My Three and Me 11:00-11:45; and the four-and-five year olds meet from 2:00-3:00. Gift baskets will be on display at the library beginning November 7. Tickets will be available for $1.00 each beginning November 9, and winners will be announced at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 18. Proceeds of this event will benefit the DuBois Public Library.
Anyone who would like to participate in the event is asked to create a gift basket which includes a book and various items related to the subject of the book. It is also helpful to include a list of those items. For ideas, see an example on display at the library. Gift basket donations may be dropped off at the library on Saturday, November 5 or Monday morning, November 7. |
