The workshop will feature a studio tour, review of software and hardware possibilities, an overview of basic production guidelines and a hands-on short production featuring the DuBois Library's new Children's Section. Students will have an opportunity to interview the Director of the DuBois Public Library on the talk-show stage of The Kinetic about the new Children's Section and then the workshop will move across the street to the library in order to conduct some field recording. The footage for the day will be cut together for a short DuBoisTV community affairs segment and participating students will come away with a clear understanding of what it takes to make local TV production. Interested youth are encouraged to bring their own camcorders, cell phones and laptops if they have them available. Space is limited, so parents should call to make arrangements in advance. The Kinetic is a full-service independent multimedia production and TV studio located across the street from the DuBois Public Library at 32 South Brady Street. Parents will be asked to sign a release the day of the event for youth who will be attending. For more information the public can contact Sam Ettaro at 814-553-8794 or email through The Kinetic's website at www.thekinetic.org info@thekinetic.org
The DuBois Public Library invites youth grades 5-8 to take part in a free digital media youth workshop at 10am until 12noon as part of the downtown DuBois Art Walk on the Block festivities on Saturday, June 7th. Youth can learn how they can help put the DuBois Library on DuBoisTV! The workshop is sponsored by and hosted at The Kinetic directly across the street from the library and is free to local students from grades 5-8. This workshop will be conducted by Sam Ettaro, owner of The Kinetic and digital media teacher, who will review what it takes to make a TV production to be aired on DuBoisTV. Also presenting will be members of the Media Minded Youth Club who will discuss project planning techniques and introduce youth to the club's mission. MMYC™, promotes the enrichment and development of our community’s youth in technology and media arts.
